Kampala — EFFORTS to end female genital mutilation have hit a snag after the Government failed to provide sh400m for compensating the practitioners.
The money is meant for start up capital for over 400 promoters of the practice, said labour state minister Emmanuel Otaala.

"The ministry is proposing to compensate them with sh1m each for the lost income as a result of eliminating the practice," Otaala explained.
The ministry also seeks another sh200m to support the Reproductive Education and Community Health programme in Kapchorwa, Bukwo, Kabong, Nakapiripiti, Amudat, Moroto, Kotido and Moroto districts.
